The procession preparatory to the coronation ceremony was a brilliant affair.

The Czar, mounted on a white charger, headed a calvalcade of Eastern and European princes, the Carina, and nobility. The route through which the assemblage passed was guarded by fully 200,000 troops. At all points a most enthusiastic demonstration was given to the Czar.
