PRE-SESSIONAL ADDRESS.

MR HOGG AT PAHIATUA

[Specivl to Standard.]

(litj Telt'iiraph—' 'a n i.'omxponth'nt. /

Pahiatua, This day

Mr Hogg, M.H.R., spoke for two hours last night at Pahiatua to a large and enthusiastic audience. He enumerated the work of last session, and claimed he had done his duty. He defended the policy of the Government in the main, but criticised adversely the administration of the co-operative •works, and spoke strongly of the treatment many of the settlers had received in not having roads opened ap to their sections. He stated that probably he would not again address the Pahiatua constituents as their representative, as the electorate would likely be divided. He received a very attentive hearing, and at the conclusion of his address a resolution of thanks and confidence was passed.
