THE PRINTING OFFICE TROUBLE. ANTI-CHINESE LEAGUE. BISCUIT FACTORY ON FIRE. SUBDIVISION OF THE ELSTHORPE ESTATE. [Special to Standard.j Wellington, This day. A meeting of employes of the Government Printing Office was held last night to consider the matter of the dismissal of three employes. The Press representatives were excluded from the meeting, but it is understood that a petition will be presented to the Hon. Mr Hall Jones in reference to the matter. Mr Cos tall. Government Printer, has resigned from Monday next. No season is assigned. The delegates to the Brunner Relief Fund Conference will meet at 3.80 this afternoon. At a meeting of the Anti-C'hinese league held last night, a resolution was carried to the effect that the statements made by Lady Stout at the omen's Convention were indiscreet and contrary to facts. It was reported at the meeting that the Christchnrch Marketgardeners Association was about to open two shops in Wellington to compete against the Chinaman. Mr James Wilson of the I nion Bank, who was for some years prominently connected with the Napier Football Club and Napier liowing Club, promoted to the Perth branch of the bank, and leaves here od Friday by the Tarawera. A fire was discovered early this morning at the W eliington Biscuit Factory, but before the flames were got under the back portion of the building was gutted; the stock was considerably damaged by fire and water. The Elsthorpe estate, recently purchased by the Government, will be open for selection at Napier on the 21th June. The estate will be subdivided into twenty-eight .sections of agricultural land, ranging from 8 to 685 acres, twenty-one village sections, and six village homestead setions.
