A Woman’s Curiosity.
The wife of a man iu Brisbane is • distinct instance of what a woman's curiosity will lead her to do. She was an applicant at the Westminister Police Court a-king for relief, and her case was as follows:—She said she had oeen in England two months to try ind find out whether her husband, now in Queensland, had a wife in England or not. The result of her in* qutries was that her husband’s first wife had died a fortnight before be -ailed for the colony. The suspicion had dawned upon her mind that another wife was living, in consequence of having read old letters of the ma* o whom she had been married three years. She had tried to find out through lawyers in England if there was another wife, but as they had ;iven her unsatisfactory replies she ha i como herself, bringing her little girl, and now that she was satisfied -he wanted to get back, but she had exhausted her money. The Magistrate neither offered her money neg lid he give her a iy sympathy in he® predicament.
