Corrupt Election Practises.

It is probable that before another week passes w6 shall heal’, of some more defeated candidates taking action to challenge the legality of the returii of the members who were successful in opposing tin-m nt the last general election. We would be sorry to “ee every member who whs guilty of a breach of the Corrupt Practise* Prevention Act Challenged, as the chances would be that every member who was opposed in the late election Would be unseated. But it is highly necessary that a reminder that such an Act exists should be given to members, and it would have a beneficial effect on future election to have a couple of members receive alessou for neglecting to conform to the law Mr BryCe has in the interests of justice, determined to appeal to the law courts to test whether hie lat,q opponent Mr Hutchison was not guilty of corrupt practises. Mr Bryce accepted his defeat with good grace, but since he has become convinced that it would be a neglect of public duty if he were not to make an attempt to displace Mr Hutchison. Now that Mr Bryce has decided to face the anxiety and , expense that is attendant on an effort to secure justice we trust another one or two disappointed candidates will give their successful opponents a lesson in electioneering morality. If this were done it is a certainty that next election will be Carried on in a different manner from the Iflst.
