RUSSIA IN CENTRAL ASIA.
RUSSIA ADVANCING. DISSATISFACTION OF BOKHARANS. London, Got. 28. Information from Herat states that it is generally feared that the Russian troops are preparing to make an advance, as strong re-inforcements ore arriving at the Russian eamp. Merchants who have arrived at Herat state that the Russian officers openly say that they hope soon to march into India. News has been received in India from Afghanistan that that Abdool Momeim Khan, of Hozar, brother of the Ameer of Bokara lately sent a letter to Abdool Malik Khan, the Bokharan refugee at Abbottabad, stating that the Russians were establishing themselves strongly at Charjui, that the Ameer’s subservience to the Russians is very displeasing to the Bokharans, and this is therefore a good opportunity for Abdool Malik to try to escape to the banks of the Oxus, where troops and money would await him. The bearer of the letter was captured by Ishak Khan, Governor of Afghan Turkestan, and on him was found a letter that Abdool Momein had written asking Ishak to allow the messenger to proceed. The authenticity of the foregoing news is doubted as it comes from a native source.
