Lieuteuaut Portal then joins 11. M.S. Nelson.
11.M.5. Britannia, training ship, went ashore near the Nore, but has since been floated off uninjured. Captain Carr, of the Royal Engineers, has been directed by the War ' ifflee to prepare a scheme for the complete defence of the harbors of the United Kngdom. '1 ho newspapers adversely comment on the appointment, and urge that an officer holding a higher position should have been selected.
Mr T. R. Buchanan, Liberal Unionist, M P. for West Edinburgh, and Mr W J. Evelyn, Conservative member lor Deptford, intend to resign on the ground that they are unable to support the Irish policy of tho Government.
