When the late Rev. Dr. William Adams of New York was at the panPresbyterian Council at Edinburgh, finding the church rent into Regular Presbyterians and Independent Presbyterians and United Presbyterians, and what not, he said in his speech, “ Brethren, you are R.P.’s and I.P’s U.P’s—why don’t you call yourselves split peas and be bone with it ?”
