Sandlant up in Arms.
[To the Editor.] Sib, —Could you inform me whether Richard is suffering from moral obliquity, or from an overdose of bribe, that he lends himself so readily to perversity ? Ara Bichard and his party really getting afraid that they are taking so much pains to ridicule tny efforts in a good cause ? lam aware that it is not to be expected that such as Richard could understand any principle beyond th* abstract one of £s. d. And now, Sir, with respect to my anxiety to speak to the meeting, Richard is knowingly and perversely wrong. I only wished to make intelligible that which could not be done in a question ot. tbe nature proposed, and ao asked the Chairman for an opportunity to explain. I .knew beforehand that I would not be allowed this; and tbe reason why I ihould not be permittea te apteiftrund co irag praptwd for tto ralingof the Chair. No matter how good my tactics were, the Ohair had the power ot veto, which I accepted without demur, may tell Richard that when I want to make a speech I shall not be as helpless as some know, nor want a Richard to write It, Pardon me, Mr Editor, for I shoot high and mean to bit the sun when I draw the trigger, but would you tell Richard that when I wafit th* hall I oan pay for it, and that; although I am a butcher, there will be no blood-money in the bargain, and that I shall back my own judgment when that will be—but be it will; and I shall give a speech that Richard never had th* gumption to wri o, much less to think out—a speech that the hesitating nervousness of his would-be orator.pupil could not utter, or the solemn glib of a DeLautour embellish; It will have truth in it that will stand by the right, although ten artilleries of ridicule wet* levelled, against it. So go ahead, Richard, bat reniember that injustice will not triumph for ever. Vengeance is mine I with one whose voice will be heard, and Bichard and those who abet him will hear and obey.—l am, <£c.| J. Sandlant.
