MR DELAUTOUR.
One of the features of Mr McDonald’s meeting was the excellent tactics displayed by the Chairman, Mr DeLautour. He managed the meeting admirably, effectually quelling all disorder without unduly interfering with liberty of speech. His opening remarks were lucid and to the point and it seems a great pity that a gentleman of Mr DeLautour’s political ability should not be in the House. Like others, however, he has doubtless found that the game is not worth the candle and has determined for a time to devote himself solely to his profession. We trust however, that it may not be long before Mr DeLautour may be successfully tempted to return to the political arena in which he showed to such advantage. He is a man of great political ability and we are but echoing the wishes of many when we express the hope that he may soon be persuaded to once more be found m the benches of the House advocating with all the unquestionable force of his intellectual ability the cause of New Zealand Democracy.
