Hawke’s Bay Education Board.

POVERTY BAY ITEMS. (Special to ths Standard.) Napibb, last night. At the Education Board’s meeting to-day the following Poverty Bay business was transacted :— GISBORNE ASSISTANT MISTRESS. Miss Sutherland, of Dunedin, has been appointed assistant mistress of the Gisborne School. MATAWHERO. A grant for a shed was again declined owing to want of funds, OBMOND. The same reply was given to the Ormond request re teacher’s house, but £4 was granted for conveniences. The Ormond Committee in the dispute with Mr Parsons about occupation of the school site were referred to the last committee’s agreement. PATUTAHI. Patutahi school got £5 for a fence, but the grant requested for other purposes could not be made. The Waerengakuri and Upper Patutahi people asked for a school for 23 children and for a grant of £25 in aid. They are to be asked for a list of the families and other information.

W. Baddler was approved of as pup! teacher at Patutahi.

TE KARAKA. The Te Karaka Committee were granted £2-5 towards labour of erecting the teacher’s cottage, the committee finding the timber, the house allowance to cease when the house is finished, •WAERENGA-A-HIKA. The Committee were authorised to expend £6, balance of building grant, on gravelling paths and other matters, TOLOCIA BAT. As the architect and the builder of the Tologa Bay school were at loggerheads the Board will support the architect. The Poverty Bay schools will be examined between October 24 and November 11. The Gisborne schools will be examined first— from October 24th to 27th.
