lx our necessarily condensed report of Mr Gannon’s meeting on Friday evening last, we said he “ advocated ” payment of school fees for the fifth and sixth standards. That is not correct. In dealing with the question of retrenchment, Mr Gannon pointed out what savings could be effected in the educational expenditure of the colony generally, and “ advocated ’’ the Universities of the colony being free, if the colony could afford it. Although not supporting Mr Gannon's candidature for the forthcoming election, We are desirous of adhering to the platform we have laid down from the commencement that every candidate, so far as our columns are concerned, shall receive fair play and no misrepresentation.
