FLOODS IN VICTORIA.

Serious floods are continuing in this colony and it is feared that within a few days the Goulbonrn Valley will be visited with the most extensive and disastrous inundation ever experienced in; Victoria. TELEPHONE COMPANY. The Telephone Company have offered to sell their business to the Government for £43,000, but the Government will only agree to pay £40,000. It is expected that an early settlement will be arrived at. NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY.

At a meeting of the National Insurance Company of Australasia held to-day it was decided to discontinue the business in New Zealand, owing to heavy losses that have been made in the colony.
