The Hanlan-Gaudaur Sculling Match.
SUSPICIOUS PROCEEDINGS. GAUDAUR ROWS WIDE OF HIS COURSE. London, July 28. The result of the race between Hanlan and Gaudaur is regarded with suspicion in aquatic circles in England and America, Gaudaur kept a long way out of his course, and when over half the distance, the spectators called out to him to keep his proper course. He took no heed of their warnings and finished a quarter of a mile out, bu nearly level with Hanlan. The umpire dis qualified Gaudaur, whose backer asked what instructions had been given. The defeated oarsman declined to make any statement, but said the race was lost because the condition of the water waa all in favour of Hanlan.
