FOOTBALL.

SATURDAY’■ MATCH. The match between the Second fifteens set down for Saturday last, again fell through owing to the men chosen not turning up. A good many players being on the ground a scratch match was played, sides being chosen by Dunlop and Whitehead. The play was very good throughout, and both sides strove hard to gain a victory. Dunlop’s side won by 4 points to ml, Rees and Mitchell each secuting a try. Bull took both tries at goal, and scored a goal from Mitchell’s try. For Dunlop’s side Rees, Hall, Lewis, and Bull among the backs, and Dunlop, Hapi, Mitchell, and Weston did good service for the forward division, whilst Abraham, Booth, Munroe, Whitehead, Wade, and Lysnar played the best game for the losers. TIBST FIFTEENS.—BETUBN MATCH. On Saturday next the return match between the Union and Gisborne Clubs will take place, and a keen contest is expected. It will be remembered that in the first match the Union were victorious by 5 points to nil, and should they again score a victory they will be the premier club, but, if Gisoorne win, another match will have to decide the question. The following team has been chosen to represent the Gisborne Club Sage, Rees, L. (captain), Staite, Booth, Hall, Bees, A., Dunlop, Bourke, Bull, Allen, Icod, Biki, Tucker, Hooper, and lysnar; emergencies, Hapi and Evans. A practice will take place on Wednesday evening, when all the above are requested to muster on the ground at 4.15 sharp. The following players have been chosen to represent the Union Club against the Gisborne Club next Saturday Full back, Abraham; halves, Rua, Munro, Gillespie; charters, Wade and Mitchell; forwards,Arundel, Weston, Wade, Whitehead, Colebourne, Bolton, Leslie, Lemuel and Honi. Emergencies : C. Lewis, Hapi, and E. Skeet. The above are requested to roll up punctually at 2.80 next Saturday: waiboa football team. News has been at last received from Wairoa. They have decided to send a team to Napier the first week in August, and say that possibly they will visit here afterwards. This is . hardly probable, and it is unlikely that a match will now be arranged this season. It is greatly to be regretted as it would have kept footballers up to the mark had the match with Wairoa been made an annual one.
