Greymouth News.

Gbexmouth, July 23. The New Zealand Midland Railway contractors publicly notify to all employed on the line that on and after Ist August next one penny per day will be deducted for the purpose of establishing a sick fund for the assistance of those who, either through accident or illness, may require it. The agitation in favour of the Harbour Board employing day labour seems to be now disposed of by the Board calling for tenders for the completion of the Coal Creek training bank. Public opinion is much exercised as to the wisdom of constructing this stone bank, many holding that it is an injury and danger to the town by diverting the current too much against the stone protective works and wharf.
