WOBKB COMMITTEE. The Works Committee reported:— The Committee met this afternoon, when the Engineer’s report was read. The Committee make the following recommendations: That tenders be called for the lighterage of the Hercules, and cement on board the Blair Drummond, tenders to be ca led for in Auckland, Napier, and Gisborne; also for the building of two boats, as per Engineer’s specifications; and that a Committee meeting be held on Tuesday, August 9, for the purpose of opening and deciding of the above tend-" s, Report adopted. habbor-mmteb's bepobt. Captain Andrews reported that six vessels (including one steamer) had been towed into the river, and five (including steamer) outwards. The bar was now very good, having deepened fifteen inches between the 13th and 16th when the heavy sea was running. The river continued good. Captain Andrews suggested that two pile's be driven on the Kaiti side of trie river so that vessels may make fast out of the way of the wharf, when not work%he report was adopted, Mr Dickson, however, objecting to having the river obstructed in the way proposed — it was, he said, an unheard of thing. CHANGING NAME —NOTICE OT MOTION. Mr Townley amended his motion re changing the name of the Bay, so as to leave out the substituted name “Victoria," and after discussion the motion was carried. A point of order raised by Mr Sunderland that the Board was not the body to deal with the question was overruled. Mr Gannon gave notice to move that the former resolution in regard to accident insurance should be rescinded,
