[Per Nbw Zealand Press Agenoy.] THE WEST COAST FLOODS — £40,000 DAMAGES. GREAT DAMAGE AT GREYMOUTH. Greymouth, last night. The damages from the late floods will probably amount to £40,000. Most of the storekeepers are heavy losers. The Brunner railway has received considerable damage, and complete traffic will not be resumed before Monday next. At the Coal Creek Flat every settler lost nearly all his cattle. The Tyneside colliery at Brunnerton was flooded out. All danger has now passed, but the aspect of the town is deplorable. Two thirds of the houses are knee-deep in mud, and the loss to the working class is very great.

Endeavours are being made to raise further funds to complete the operations. ESCAPE OF A LUNATIC AT DUNEDIN. Dunedin, Last Night. A lunatic named Fenwick has escaped from the Asylum and disappeared.
