Waimata Road Board.

An ordinary meeting of the above Bonrd was held yesterday afternoon, all the members being present, Mr Gannon occupying the chair, The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed-

Waihata West. Letter from Mr 8. C. Caul ton, giving a sketch plan of works required near 7 and 28, Waimata West.—Resolved that Mr O’Byan be employed to lay off the work, and that tenders be called for.

PRIVATE Boads. Letter from Mr H. E. Kenny, stating that the Board could not lawfully expend the funds of the Board upon roads laid oft by the Native Land Court as private roads.— Resolved that the Clerk enquire whether the roads laid oft by the Native Land Court, in the subdivision of Haiti, have been taken over by the Survey Department as part of the 5 per cent, to be taken as public roads, and if it is found that those roads are public roads, that Mr Harris’ request for culvert and drain in Harris Street be complied with and the work tendered for.

The Maxgapai-a Road. Letter from Mr. Cresswell stating that unless the sums of £l7 paid to Mr. A, J. O’Neill and £26 2s paid to Mr. Gannon for fencing Mangapapa Road be repaid to the Board, he had instructions to take proceedings for the recovery of the money.—Letter received.

A New Work. Letter from Mr. Price asking that a bridle track be made to connect Valley Lane with Fox Street. The estimates were prepared for a work to cost £47. It was decided that tenders be called for the work, and the bridge required be made eight feet wide.

Rivebside Road. With regard to the above road it was agreed to that if the manuka already cut on the opposite side of the river can be secured that the Riverside Road be cleaned of the slip, and that fascines be laid along the worst parts of the road.

Masoapai-a Road and Bridge. The tender of Messrs Ollivier and Kelly, £39 15s 6d, was accepted for the above work. Other tenderers were A. J. O’Neil, £4l, J. McConnochie, £6l, J. Somerville, £6l, and G. Rice, £39 9s. Mr Rice’s tenuer was the lowest, but previous work done by him having been unsatisfactorily executed, it was decided to accept the tender as above.

NEW WOBKS. The Board resolved to call for tenders for forming and fascining 15 chains Hapara B roed, near sectinn 1 ; also that a culvert be fixed in Stout Street at Fox Street crossing ; that Fox Street be drained from Russell Street to the creek ; that Mr Coleman’s Road be repaired. Payments. The following payments were ordered to be made : —O'Neil £lO, Courtney £B, Rice £7, Yardly £9 Bs, Chute £6.
