The following is a memorandum 0! the bull* ness to come before the above body tomorrow I—To confirm amendment in by-law defining the term " Hawker and “ Pedlar,’ 1 Discuss Or. Gannon’s motions to bring book Canvassers under the operation of the by-law for pedlars, and to take over the Riverside road, Waimata Road District; Hear the report of the Committee on Road Board finance, also on Waikohu bridge; Hear the Clerk's report on the amount of subscription! received towards the Imperial Institute, The following amusing letter from a gentleman in Hawkes Bay will be read 1—" I have to thank you for your kind consideration in summoning me for rates for land that X never owned nor had any interest in tor years 1 also for issuing a writ against my—the latter a delicate attention quite unlooked for, but, nevertheless, thoroughly appreciated, and in order to chow you that it wai so, I shall return the compliment by in* atructing my solicitor to take an notion against you for the recovery of the money wrongly extorted by you from mo, and all expenses attendant thereon- I must also thank you for causing the summon! to be served on me so late that it gave me next to no time to defend the case,”
