FO OTBALL, A scratch match was played on Saturday last between a Fifteen, captained by L, Bees, and a Twenty, captained by Mr Davy, a well* known Aucklander, itt Present In town. Aitef a hard game each aide sddrdd a point, thH mult then being a draw. Another scratch match was piayejl orl Monday last, when some very good form was shown, • The following team are picked to play against Hawke's Bay Full beck, C. Lewis | halves ; L. Bees, Staitc ; Quarters , AH. Wade, Smart and Morgan ; forwards i Biki, Dunlop, Botirke, Leslie, Bull, Colebourne, Allen, Bolton and A. Bees. Emergencies: back . Gillespie ; forwards, T inker and A, Wade. The above selection subject to alteration after next Saturday play.

[BT rOBWABD.j C. Lewis.—Good kick and fair oollar, hie shown great Improvement of late, ihculd use His kicking powers more and not try to run so much. L. Bees.—Fastest man in team, but laoicsfending and dodging powers, picks up well, good collar, hard man to stop. Stutz.—Smart half-back, picks up splendidly, should kick more into touch, very fair collar. Aur. Wade.—Very useful quarter, good at Stopping rushes, sure collar, should pass more when in opponents; 25, instead of dropping on the ball. Smart.—Very good quarter, punts weii; sure collar, and understands the game thor. OUghly. Moboan.—Fair quarter, but lacks the dash that he displayed last season, tackles well, Dunlop.—Best forward in team, works hard, always on the ball, fair collar. Bourse.—Good wing man, fine collar, Inclined to pick up too much, and play off side. Leslie,—Good honest forward, works hard all through, good dribble. Bull.—Good forward, works hard, good collar, and a good half-back. CoLEßoußxz.—Battling good forward, very smart on his opponent’s quarter-backs, dribbles and tackles well. Biki—Hard working forward, inclined to loaf a little, but always there when wanted. Allen.—New man, plays hard all through the game, has a good idea of dribbling, very useful man. Bolton.—Good forward, plays hard, difficult man to stop. A. Bees.—Good all-round man, smart runner, dodges well, always on the ball, and plays with plenty of pluck and discretion.
