The Gisborne Hospital.

Fbom the annual report of the InspectorGeneral of Hospitals we have extracted the following details which concern our local in] stitution. The amount received during the year 1886, was £1,013 Os lOd, made up as follows :— Subscriptions and donations, £3OB 12s 6d ; from patients, £175 4s lOd ; from Government, £393 3s 6d ; from local bodies, £ll6 ; from rents and other revenues, £2O. The following is a list ot the cases and orders of diseases treated during the year 1886: —Simple fever, 5; enteric (typhoid) fever, 28 ; dysentery, 2 ; delirium tremens, 3 ; rheumatic fever, 3 ; cancer, 1; phthisis, 1 ; other constitutional diseases, 5 ; diseases of the nervous system, 10 ; diseases of the eye, 5 ; diseases of circulatory system, 10 ; throat, 5 ; asthma, 9 ) other diseases of respiratory sytem, 6 ; diseases of digestive system, 15 ; of urinary system, 5 ; of reproductive system, 6 ; fractures and contusions, 5; gunshot wounds, 1. The following is a detailed list of the expenditure Provisions, £202 6s 7d ; Wine and ales, £l2 5s ; drugs and instruments, £174 3s 6d ; fuel and light, £47 5s 3d ; bedding and clothing, £llO 15s; salaries and wages, £4OO 9s 4d ; funerals, £3 18s 6d ; repairs, £34 Is Od ; printing, advertising and stationery, £2l 8s 7d; insurance, £ll 19s 6d ; auditors, £26 5s ; other expenses, £26 13s 7d. Total : £1,051 lid. As regards the patients 90 males were admitted during the year, and 32 females, of whom five males and two females died. No outdoor relief is noted on the report.
