John Bull's Foreign Troubles.
London, June i 5. The prestige of the Ameer of Afghanistan is believed to be hopelessly shattered. His fall is expected at an early date. Russia is placing steamers on the river Oxus, in Tnrkestane. The London Standard states that Russia is likely to withdraw her claims to Haye 1 (Harski) in return for the concession of the valleys of the Murghab and Kusk. Russians have been discovered surveying in Borneo, and sketching the defences of SingaP °The Porte, instigated by Russia and France, refuses to ratify the Egyptian Convention, unless the light to re-enter Egypt is limited. The Porte demands the right alone to restore order in Egypt.
