GOLF CLUBS SEEK LIQUOR CHARTERS
P.A. DUNEDIN, Nov. 23 The question of liquor in relation to golf clubs was referred to by Mr D. R. Richmond (Wellington) when moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golt Association. He said that the council haa made representations to the Select Committee dealing with tne Licensing Bill before the House, asking, first, that any Golf Club seeking a charter should get one if its premises were satisfactory and complied with the requirements of the Act; and secondly, that if a charter were granted, the sale of liquor should be permitted on the seven days of, the week. The hours suf>'°'ested were from 12 to 2 p.m., adn from 4 to 6 p.m., in winter; and from 4 to 7 p.m., in summer. Mr Richmond said that he believed that the Select Committee was sympathetic to the Golf Council's representations.
