Sequel in Divorce Court

A husband, who threatened to shoot his wife, and then attempted to shoot himself, had not been seen since, according to evidence in an undefended action before Mr Justice Fleming in the Greymouth Supreme Court yesterday. Ellen Amelia Violet Crossan, of Westport (Mr H. A. E. Maitland) was granted a decree nisi to be made absolute in three months, against Donald Glen Crossan. The parties were married on May 25, 1935, at Waimangaroa. Mrs Crossan said her husband, early, began to drink, and on August 5, 1945, he came home and threatened to shoot her and then himself. He did attempt to shoot himself, but the bullet went through a door. She had not seen her husband since. Crossan was also ordered to pay costs on the lower scale. William Henry Leopold Goulding, of Westport (Mr Maitland) was granted a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, against Eva Goulding. Married in January, 1932, Goulding said his wife soon became dissatisfied and developed religious mania. They separated in 194 a. Her husband spent most of his time in hotels, said Olwyn Cressy, ot Westport (Mr M. 13. Scully) who obtained a decree nisi to be moved absolue in three months against Cyril Benjamin Cressy. In April, 1945, she said', her husband walked out of the house, and she had not seen him since. Mrs Cressy was granted interim custody of the children. “Deserted ■by her husband in 1944, Elizabeth Ann Hardie, Westport (Mr Scully) was granted a decree nisi to be moved absolute in three months against Thomas Mitchell Hardie. Mrs Hardie was granted interim custody of an infant of the marriage. A decree nisi in favour of Myrtle Ruby Hazeldine, against Ralph Hazeldine, was made absolute.
