Much work is being done in widening the Buller Gorge road in several places and some awkward bends are being straightened. The Lewis Pass 'route is in excellent order at the present time, especially between Reefton and the Hanmer branch-off. There have been many complaints about youths in the town throwing fireworks indiscriminately. In one recent case, a woman's coat was burned when a cracker thrown by a youth, struck her.
