Charges Denied by U.S. Republican Congressman
(Rec 8.30) WASHINGTON, Nov. 15. Mr J. Parnell Thomas (Republican. New Jersey), chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on UnAmerican Activities. pleaded not zuiltv to charges of fraud and of a salary “kick-back” to-day. In a, surprise arrainment. one day ahead o schedule, Federal Judge Keech plac ed Thomas under a 1000-dollar bond and set the trial for January 10. Thomas left the court to be Photographed and finger-printed befoie his release. If convicted on al counts, he faces the possibility of a penalty of 32 years’ imprisonment, and 40.000 dollars in fines.
