Rifle Shooting
A special handicap competition shoot was held by the Westport Rifle Club on the pakahi range at the week-end when two sighters and seven shots to count were fired at ranges of 300, 500 and 600 yards. Conditions were fairly tricky at times, the fresh easterly wind at 300 yards changing to moderate to fresh from the south-west at the longer ranges. At 600 yards some details fired in heavy rain, and a poor light. Don Marr shot well to record the best score off the rifle, 99, including, an excellent 34 at 600 yards. Next Sunday a bus will leave the Army Drill Hall at 7 a.m. for Murchison, where a friendly match will be held with the Defence Rifle Club there. Leading scores in the weekly shoot
