TENNIS Wellington Beat Auckland
P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. Everything else in the tennis matches between Auckland and Wellington for the Nunnley Casket and Wilding 'Shield, played on Friday and Saturday, was eclipsed by the final women’s doubles match, on wnich the fate of the Casket depended. At 6.30 p.m. victory in this supermyfought encounter between, Mesdames J. McVay and J. Webb (Wellington) and Misses E. Attwood and L. Adams (Auckland was secured by the home team 9/7, 13/11. This gave Wellington a win in the Casket series by 14 sets to 13, the matches being six-ail. Wellington also retained the Wilding Shield ,a remarkable recovery enabling them to overhaul the Aucklanders for a two lead in the matches on Friday, and go through to win seven—five.
