Short Liberty for Prison Escapees

TAUMARUNUI, Nov. 12. After being at liberty , hours two prisoners who - v from the Auckland-Wellington c.. press when it reached Tauimai unui last night, were r^ ca P tL V ec l Matapuna rail and road c mile south of Taumarunui about on o’clock this morning, by Consiaoie G. W. McKenzie. . They were Louis Joseph Wri,nt, aged 20, and Raymond Granvihe Hicks, aged 26. The prisoners had stolen a railway jigger and were travelling south on it when they were arrested by Constable McKenzie, who was stationed on the bridge. The men had a lucky, escape from injury because just as they were apprehended and the jigger was taken off the line the north-bound express came along the line.
