Chinese Accuse Russians of Not Wanting Peace
PARIS, Nov. 11 The Soviet did not desire peace, Dr Tsiang (China) told the United Nations Political Committee, in which is considering the Soviet proposal for a one-third reduction in armaments of the Big Powers. “In China, were are not only fighting Communists but also against Japanese who became prisoners of the Russians,” he said. “At least 13,000 such Japanese are doing technical work in Manchuria. We cannot have peace when one country employs a fifth column against another The Chinese will, therefore, submit concrete proposals for the disarmament of fifth columns throughout the world.” VYSHINSKY’S PREDICTION 1 M. Vyshinsky’s (Soviet) repeated the allegations that the United States and Britain were conducting an “unbridled armaments race.” He accused Dr Tsiang of going beyond the framework of a dignified discussion. M. Vyshinsky claimed that even if the Chinese armies, far from disarming, increased their araments by one-third or two-thirds, there would be no change on the Chinese war fronts. “The Chinese communists will win, regardless of this,” he said.
