Captain A. Ness will replace Captain H. W. Tointon, who is to retire from the position of harbourmaster at Westport at the end of the month. Mr H. O’Loughlin, manager of Station 3YZ, leaves on Monday to attend a broadcasting conference in Wellington. Mr J. F. Morgan, of the Plumb Axe Coy. (Inc.), of Philadelphia, U.S.A., is at present on a business visit to th e West Cbast, and is a guest at Revingtons Hotel. The death has occurred at the Westland Hospital of Mrs Eliza Christina Morgan, a pioneer, of Hokitika, who has resided there since the year 1870. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs G. Sutherland (Hokitika), Mrs M. Harkins (Christchurch), and Mrs M. Dunn (Dune din). The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, and Lady Freyberg leave Auckland by air on Monday on a visit to Australia andi expect to return to New ’Zealand on December 18. They will visit Canberra, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. Their programme includes receptions by the Eora Mayors of the State capitals and they will also meet members of the returned servicemen’s organisations and inspect several veterans’ homes. During the Governor-General’s absence, the Chief Justice, Sir Humphrey O’Leary will act as deputy of the Governor-General. The death of a very old resident of Kanieri, Mrs Agnes Cumming, wne of Mr Wm. Cumming, occurred at the Westland Hospital yesterday at the age of 70 years. A .native of Rothsay, Scotland, she had iesded for over half a century at Kamen She leaves seven of a family, rne daughters being Mesdames H Dimmick (Koiterangi), B. Jones (Ranieri) and R. Jones (Hokitika); and the 7 ’sons, Thomas (Christchurch', Alex (Kanieri), Richard (Koiter-an°-i) and Gavin (Levin). She also is survived by three sisters, Miss M. Shearer (Scotland), Mrs J. Chesterman (Hokitika), and Mrs G. Thompson (Scotland); and two brothers Mr Alex Shearer (Scotland), and MrArthur Baird (Canada). The following is the Albion Hotel guest list:—Mr and Mrs R. W.
