CRICKET English Learn Lessens from Australians’ Tour

(Rec. 9.40) LONDON, Nov. 11 The County Cricket Advisory Committee has yielded to criticism about the rule introduced last season that a captain may employ a new ball for each 55 overs. The committee announced that, from next summer, the ball will not be available until 65 overs are completed. The Australians’ overwhelming victories throughout last season, emphasised the disabilities confronting English skippers, whose attack had been based on medium and slow bowlers, and, who, unlike Bradman, gained little value from the new ball rule. The committee also heeded criticism of the selection system, and agreed to increase the number of selectors from three to four, and to give them power to call into consultation any cricketer, past or present. The committee also decided to set up a committee to find out how young cricketers can be encouraged.
