Prisoners Escape from Main Trunk Express
P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 11. Slipping or breaking their handcuffs, two prisoners escaped from the Auckland-Wellington express on which they were travelling under escort, when the train reached Taumarunui to-night. They bolted along the railway line unnoticed, except by a railway employees, who thought that one was chasing the other. They were Louis Joseph Wright, aged 20, and Raymond Granville Hicks, aged 26. The men, who were travelling from Te Kuiti to Wellington, had not been recaptured at a late hour to-night.
