CRICKET West Coast Season Opens on October 24

Senior and senior reserve competitions will begin on October 24, and Saturday competitions the following week, the West Coast Cricket Association decided at its meeting on Tuesday night. . Westland -Breweries promised; :.a< trophv to be competed for along similar line to the Seddon Shield contest, between the West Coast, Buller, Nelson and Marlborough Associations. It was decided to. communicate with the Associations concerned and suggesting a conference t<> discuss the matter. The visit of the Manawatu Wanderers’ Club on January 3 and 4, was confirmed, the matter of accommodation being left in the hands of ths secretary and Mi’ L. Coffey. Nelson Creek Club was granted permission to transfer M. Ord from the Blackball Club, and approval of the club’s colours was given. The United Club’was granted permission to play a friendly match with a Kumara team on Sunday. TEAMS NOMINATED The following nominations for teams in the various grades were received Senior.—United, Marist Old Boys. Cobden, Blackball. . . Senior reserve. —United, Marist Old Boys, Cobden, Nelson Creek. Camerons, Brunner. Junior. —United (2), Marist Old Boys, Marist High School, Cobden. Blackball, Brunner, Grev Motors. Nominations have not yet been received from the Runanga and Kaimoto clubs.
