THREE MEN FINED FOR DYNAMITING TROUT

P.A. GISBORNE, Oct. 13. Three men, who were seen by a Gisborne angler dynamiting for trout in the Waioeka River on March 27, were each convicted and lined £lO and costs by the Magistrate, Mr E. L. Walton. S.M., to-day. They were William Robert Wilson, Kepa Wilson and Pera Thompson, each of whom admitted charges of using an explosive to catch or destroy fish, and taking trout by use of explosives. The police prosecutor said the angler saw the three men near the river, into which something was thrown, followed by an explosion. The trout were then taken from the water. Counsel for the defendants said the men had been pig-hunting and could not resist trying to get trout which they saw in the river.
