John Smith was Known in N.Z.

P.A. WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. A letter from Trieste, addressed to "John Smith,” care ot Postmaster-Genera I, Auckland, has been delivered to its rightful owner about six weeks after its arrival in the country. To the Post Office it was auite an easy job. The correspondent, in an accompaning letter to the postal authorities, said that John Smith was in the 21st. Battalion, 2nd. N.Z.E.F., “the General Freyberq Division,” and that they had met in Trieste in 1945. A check with Base Records, soon traced the owner of the letter. He is J. B. Smith, of Kaikohe, Kiwi, 1946/47 All Black, and 1948 All Black, who represented the North Island in the North-South flsland match at Athletic Park on October 2.
