LONDON TALKS
MEETING OF PRIME MINISTERS TWO-YEAR CONFERENCES MAY BE SUGGESTED (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, October 11. The Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ Conference may examine a suggestion that the Prime Ministers should meet every two years, possibly in the Dominion capitals, as well as in London, says the Daily Telegraph. Another proposal is that the Prime Ministers should hold regular meetings coinciding with the United Nations meetings. A permanent committee to prepare the agenda and examine technical problems for these meetings might be set up in London. A date may also be considered for a full and formal conference, which would be able to give effect to any constitutional changes which might be agreed on at the present meeting.
PAKISTAN LEADER’S HOPES OF PEACE
(United Press —Reuter N.Z.P.A.) LONDON. Oct. 11. On the result of the Commonwealth Conference would depend whether the Commonwealth was to be living forever in the maintenance of peace in the world, or whether it was only to be a pious hope, said Liaquat All Khan, the Pakistan Prime Minister, when he arrived in London bv air from Karachi. "I hope and pray that it will prove to be a livina force, because there is such a lot that the combined efforts of the Commonwealth nations can achieve for the peace and prosperity of manKind,,” he added.
PAKISTAN AND RUSSIA LONDON, Oct. 10 The semi-official-press in Pakistan is attempting to set a price on Pakistan remaining within the Commonwealth by hints that Pakistan is considering entering the Russian orbit, despite whatever policy the Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, may have decided to pursue at the commonwealth conference says the Daily Telegraph’s Karachi correspondent. The Moslem League’s chief organ, Dawn says: "Should there be no reorientation of the policy of the major partners in the Commonwealth towards Pakistan will necessarily have to reorientate her own policy.”
