This two-continent stage hit now brought to the screen, is the authentic story of the Royal Canadian Navy ■how—its travels and success. Every member of the film cast is either an officer or rating who joined the navy from ordinary walks of life. Some of the interesting personalities that ebound in “Meet the Navy” include Oscar Natzka, John Pratt (comedion), Phyllis Hudson (comedienne), Bill O’Connor (sensational tenor), Dixie Dean (accordionist), Bill Richards (violinist), Ivan Romanoff and his famous Russian band, Alan Land, Billie Macßichards and the girls and hoys, and the bandsmen, plus scores of solo and ballet dancers from Coney Island. “SUSIE STEPS OUT”

The laugh-filled, heart-warming musical film “Susie Steps Out” commencing at the Opera House to-mor-•ow with David Bruce, Cleatus Caldwell and Nina Hunter in the leading roles is the first to delve into the background of television broadcasting. "Die story centres around the trials of the Russell family. When Papa Russell, played by Percival Vivian, becomes ill, little Nita decides to sing in a night club to contribute to the family budget. She dresses in hep sister’s clothes and lands a job. Bruce, Cealtus’ fiance, decides to 'each Nita a lesson and takes her to his apartment. Cleatus, not undertanding Bruce’s motives, breaks up with him. But all is finally straightened out, and Nita wins a co-starring ■ mging role with Bruce. Regent Shows Finally To-day: “Cass Timberlane,” with Spencer Tracy, Lana Turner, Zachary Scott. Commencing to-morrow: “The Private Life of a Scoundrel,” starring George Sanders, Angela Lansbury, Ann Dvorak. Set in Paris of the last century, the film introduces Sanders just after his return from the war in Africa, poor and disheartened. Quite by accident he meets an old friend, John Carradine, who gets him a job on a leading French newspaper. Through Carradine’s wife (Ann Dvorak) Sanders is soon on the way up the ladder to fame, fortune and enviable social position. During his ascent, he cleverly makes use of the affections of the many women who fall passionately in love with him, as well is every influential man he meets. His enemies .are legion, His scandalous affairs _ soon the talk of Paris. Excellent in supporting roles are Frances Dee, Marie Wilson, Susan Douglas, Hugo Haas, Katherine Emery, Albert Basserman, Warren William and Richard Fraser.
