More Ambushes In Malaya
SINGAPORE, October 6 Ten Gurkhas and their Chinese truck-drivers were killed and nine Gurkhas wounded when they were ambushed by Chinese terrorists near the village of Lintang, 20 miles north of Ipoh, last night. The terrorists’ first burst killed the driver and the truck overturned in a culvert. As the Gurkhas crawled out they were greeted with a hail of fire from the terrorists who closed in, throwing hand Grenades. An Indian eye-witness said the sßjotino' went on for about a quarter of an hour. “I saw terrorists, all in uniform, run down to the capsized i o -v. Thev stood over wounded soldiers and finished them off with further shots.” . Tn North Selangor to-night, on the main Kuala Lumuur-Inoh road, terrorists attacking the village of Keeling shot dead a Malay police off’ccr a Malay special constable and a Malay woman, and wounded one ChinGSO. Th° 19-year-old son of the special unstable, ‘seeing a terrorist trying to take a pistol from his fathers dead bodv. attacked him hare handed causing him to drop his Sten-mm He picked up the Sten-gun and killed tbo terrorist. . Altogether 21 persons have died in the last 24 hour’s in Malay’s guerrilla war. Five of these were terrorists.
