Happy Timber Workers’ Proceedings
(Special to “Argus”) WELLINGTON, October S
“It is rare for conciliation proceedings to be conducted in such a helpful and co-operative atmosphere”, said the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr C. L. Hunter, commenting on the hearing of claims for a new award by the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union, which concluded yesterday. “Both sides were most conciliatory, and the public should be pleased to know of the harmonious relations existing between employers and employees in what is, after all, one of New Zealand’s key industries”, added Mr Hunter.
Complete agreement was reached by the parties to the dispute, but details of the settlement are not yet * available.
