(Our Cwn Correspondent). Mrs Dandq has returned •Tom an extended holiday spent in Nelson. Mrs J. Harper has been discharged from the Grey River Hospital. Mr Stapleton, of South Canterbury, who will shortly take over the license of the Buck’s Head Hotel, up till recently held by Mr Senior, was a visitor to the district last week-
end. The members of the Brunner Women’s Institute are at the present time rehearsing for their annual birthday party to be held at the end of the month.
Private A. Barber, of Dobson, returned with yesterday’s J. Force draft. Private 11. Hassan, of Taylorville will return with the draft next week.
The opening shoot of the Brunner Rifle Club was fired on Sunday last. There was a good attendance of members and some creditable scores were recorded. Several new members heave joined the Club, and a successful season is predicted. The Club championship should provide an interesting competition, as some of the younger members were showing remarkable progress at the close oi last season.
Local cricket enthusiasts are preparing a wicket for the opening of the opening of the season. It is hoped to field two teams in the regular competition. A deputation from the Borough Council waited on the Minister of Mines, Hon. A. McLagan, and Mr J 13. Kent M.P. last week-end. Matters affecting borough improvements were placed before them, and assistance was promised.
