Bottlers Seek 35-Hour Week
P.A. WELLINGTON, October 7. The New Zealand Milk Pasteurising and Bottle Factories Employees' Union will seek a 35-hour week in five working days of seven hours each, when the negotiations with the employers in Conciliation Council for a new agreement begin in Wellington on November 9. The union will ask that each worker be allowed his two days off consecutively. New wage rates and classifications will be_ sought with a weekly wage of £9 10s for a foreman and £9 5s for the first assistant on any shift where the number of workers exceeds 25. The present rates are £7 2s 9d on any shift where the number of workers jexceeds 31.
