Woman Trapped Under Tram

WELLINGTON, October 7. Trapped under a tram-car for about a quarter of an hour in Manners Street, Wellington,' late yesterday afternoon, an elderly woman had a lucky escape from death. She was Mrs. H. Earle, 65, of Reynolds Street, Taita. Mrs. Earle was knocked over by the tram at 4.45 p.m. and dragged a short distance before it came to a han.

Her head and body were caught Under the bumper and it was not till the breakdown gang arrived and jacked the tram ud that she was able to be released. Her injuries included a broken arm, lacerations to the face and hand, and concussion. Mrs. Earle was conscious when taken to the hospital and her condition last night was reported as fair.
