SOCCER BRITISH MATCHES NOTABLE FOR LACK OF SCORING
LONDON. Oct. 6.
With spectators in shirt sleeves, and weather conditions resembling, an Indian summer, British football presented an unusual setting during last week-end. With the exception of the “Wolves” high scorer of seven goals anticipated freak results did not materialise in fact the reverse prevailed ed, for now fewer than 36 teams failed to score at all, which is a serious reflection on the forwards of to-day. Four teams remain undefeated in England: Portsmouth, Derby County, Hull City and Rotherham United. These naturally head the championship tables, but the second division sees West Bromwich Albion now in the ascendancy. East Fife in Scotland have fully justified their promotion and are to be found with Hibernians in the leadership with Rangers in a handy position.
