RURAL AWARD FOR FIRE BRIGADES

WELLINGTON, Oct. 7

A general wage increase of 15s weekly for all full-time workers is the main point in the claims for a new rural award for firemen filed by the New Zealand Federated brigades Employees’ Industrial Association of Workers and presented in the Conciliation Council to-day. Mr W. J. Mountjoy, for the New Zealand Fire Boards’ Industrial Union of Employers, said the employers objected to the citation of volunteer fire brigades as parties, and also to the citation oi certain niotiu* picture Exhibiters’ Association and threatre companies, asked that entertainment houses be not included as parties, since the fire protection organisation in theatres was already covered by a theatre award. The discussions are proceeding.
