Successor To Montgomery
LONDON, Oct. 5
Viscount Montgomery will be seconded to his new post as chairman of the Western Union Permanent Defence Council, says Reuter’s political correspondent. The appointment of a new Chief of the Imperial General Staff will be announced in a few days. Viscount Montgomery s successor will be given an outright and not an acting appointment. The chiefs of staff of the Western Powers met at the War Office to-day under the chairmanship of Lord Tedder.
