CHINESE PROPOSAL TO BREAK RELATIONS WITH THE SOVIET

(Reuter —N.Z.P.A.)

(Rec. 10.15) NANKING, Oct. 4 The Right Wing block of the Chinese Legislative Yuan has tabled a motion which would cause China to break off diplomatic relations with Russia and to aenounce the Chineseooviet treayt of friendship. The motion stated that the choice before China was whether to align heiself with Russia, or with the United States, and the motion listed fresh charges of “offensive action” which, it alleged, Russia had taken against jhina. The sponsors said, in an addendum to the motion, that there is no need to fear “serious consequences” from denouncing this treaty, as China’s relations with the Soviet “could not be worse than they are at present. They added that in a world conflict such as that which appeared to be developing, it was very clear where China’s interests lay and that “she would be left alone.”
