Arrival in N.Z. Of 549 J-Force Men Last Night
P.A. AUCKLAND, October 4. The Australian troopship “Duntroon” arrived here from Kure late ■to-night) She) birings a iT. Foyce draft of 549 officers and other ranks. She will berth to-morrow.
The first troops will disembark at noon, and the operation is expected to be completed by three o’clock. The last parties to leave the ship will be those troops whose homes are in Auckland, or who are scheduled to leave by special train for Frankton Junction and Wellington and intermediate stations.
Between three and four hundred men are included in these parties.
On arrival at Wellington,’South Island personnel for Nelson and Marlborough will embark on the “Tamahine” for Picton at 2.15 p.m. on Wednesday. Personnel for Nelson will go on from > Picton by road services. The remainder of the South Island draft will embark on the “Hinemoa” leaving Wellington at 7.45 p.m. on Wednesday.
