SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY’S ORDEAL—OUT ALL OF STORMY NIGHT

P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH. Oct. 5A seven-year-old child, who was found near Patea this morning, had spent a bleak wet night in the open, after having become detached from a party of about < fifty Wolf Cubs, who made a trek in country on the seaward side of Patea. He was Carey Fleet, elder son of Mr and Mrs M. Fleet, of Patea. A very strong southerly wind was blowing, and rain was falling heavily when the child became separated from the others in the party, as they broke into two groups, and his absence was not noticed. When he did not return home, the police were eventually notified, and a search was maintained until three o’clock this morning. When the search was, resumed, alter day-break, the boy was found, sheltering under some lupins. He was, apparently, little the worse for his experience.
